Biography

Wilson Alves-Bezerra is a Brazilian writer who dedicates himself to writing prose fiction, traslinguistic prose poetry, literary criticism of Latin American authors and literary translations. His literary writings take shape at a crossroads between experimentation with languages, reflections on the contemporary world, the condition of the migrant and spoken performances. He has literary works published in Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Portugal, and Uruguay. His book Vertigens (2015) has received the Brazilian Book Chamber Award. His critical writings are composed of academic works, biographies and literary reviews. He is the most important researcher of Horacio Quiroga in his country. He is the author of Reverberaciones de la frontera en Horacio Quiroga, published in Spanish and Portuguese, and the editor of Nuevos Papeles Íntimos (Más Quiroga, 2022), a rescue of unknown personal papers of the author. He has translated some of Quiroga books into Portuguese, as Cuentos de amor de locura y de muerte and Cuentos de la Selva.  He is also the translator of several Latin American authors, as Luis Gusmán, Sergio Bizzio and Alfonsina Storni (translation granted by Looren Latin America and Pro Helvetia Foundation). Now he is publishing A narrative biography of Horacio Quiroga, the Lone Anarchist (Cambridge Scholars, 2023).
